MATLAB, then, addition to the Faires and Burden text, I recommend
Gerald W. Recktenwald, Introduction
to Numerical Methods and MATLAB: Implementations and Applications,
Prentice-Hall, 2000. There is also an on-line MATLAB tutorial at http://www.math.utah.edu/lab/ms/matlab/matlab.html
