First Semester Numerical Analysis

This is the first semester of the two semester introductory course in numerical analysis. The goals of this course are:

to introduce the student to modern methods, techniques, and pitfalls in scientific computing;
to present the basic mathematical foundations of numerical analysis and scientific computing;
to give the students hands-on experience in solving problems;
to provide useful tools for scientists, engineers and others.

The course content will be adjusted to the audience's interests and needs. Extensive supplementation and personal attention will be given.
