The First Exam:
The first exam will be on Tuursday, Febuary 24, and will cover:

Taylor polynomial approximations,
-
computer arithmetic (including floating point systems and interval arithmetic),
-
the "big-oh" notation,
-
Newton's method, including convergence analysis.
The exam will be closed-book. Come prepared with paper and
pencil or pen.
