The second exam

Here is exactly what you will see on the second exam (no more and no less):

1. There will be a problem where you will need to compute the equation for the tangent line to the graph of a function at a particular point.

2. You will need to compute f'(x), for 8 different functions f(x).  You will need to know all of the techniques from 2.1-2.6, as well as 3.1 through 3.3.

3. You will need to compute the derivative of a function using logarithmic differentiation.

4. Given a practical problem describing a quantity f depending on a quantity x,
   (a) state the units of df/dx;
   (b) explain why you expect df/dx to be positive or negative;
   (c) Given f and df/dx at one point, estimate the value of f and df/dx at another point.
