Mathematics 487 Course Description

Computational Mathematics, Spring, 2002

The official description in the Undergraduate Bulletin is:
 

487(G).  COMPUTATIONAL MATHEMATICS.  (3, 0, 3).  Algebraic,
     symbolic, and numerical computations; modern concepts of visualization;
     applications towards calculus, differential equations, linear algebra, data
     analysis, numerical analysis, and special functions.  Prereq:  MATH 350
     with a grade of C or better.
This semester, we will learn the basics of Mathematica and MATLAB (fourth generation languages for scientific computing), then use these languages to study common symbolic and numerical techniques.
