The software package INTBIS is ACM TOMS Algorithm no. 681. It is available through NETLIB, either via an email server or the X-Windows utility "X-Netlib". If you are unfamiliar with NETLIB, then send an electronic mail message to: netlib@ornl.gov The body of the message should consist of: send index The version of INTBIS at this site runs on this Sparc 20 as is. INTBIS is meant to be portable -- read the "README" file. In this version, unit 20 is connected to "config.bis". Unit 5 is standard input and unit 6 is standard output. If "toms86al.dt1" is piped to the executable "intbis" (i.e. to unit 5), and the output is piped to "toms86al.ou1", then the file "toms86al.ou1" as seen here should be obtained. That is, intbis toms86al.ou1 should produce the file toms86al.ou1 seen here. On slower systems, this computation may be somewhat lengthy, so you may wish to modify "toms86al.dt1". A preliminary test could be just the first problem in this file. The version here has been compiled with an early version of the NAG Fortran 90 compiler. However, INTBIS is portable FORTRAN 77. Some "interface" blocks, Fortran 90 constructs not in FORTRAN 77, have been inserted into this version (but not in the version from Netlib). This version should work on FORTRAN 77 compilers if these "interface" blocks are simply deleted, or replaced with "EXTERNAL" statements. CAUTION: Make sure the settings in D1MACH and I1MACH are appropriate for your machine. Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions or problems.
