Mathematics 655 Course Description
Advanced Topics in Numerical Analysis, Fall, 2006
The official title of the course is "Advanced numerical solutions
and computing," but we will focus on two, more specific threads:
- Recent developments in interval computations, including a
critical analysis of its practicality in applications, as well as
development of tools for its dissemination and use.
- Modern techniques in global optimization, again studying
practicality in applications, as well as development of software.
The course format is subject to change. We wish to optimize the
chances
of producing significant advances, as evidenced in publications in
recognized
journals in the field.
See the course
outline periodically for details.
