A Generalized Lotka-Volterra Predator-Prey Model
by
David Marshall
We will discuss the Lotka-Volterra system for the interaction
between a single predator type and a single prey type. This
system will then be generalized to allow for individuals within
each population to have different rates. We will present
numerical evidence to support the idea of survival of the
fittest. Also, we will show that boundedness of the solution for
the fittest prey implies the eventual extinction of all other
prey.
