Text: I have selected F.
R. Giordano, M. D. Weir, and W. P. Fox, A First Course in Mathematical
Modelling, third edition, Brooks/Cole, 2003. This text gives
common basic principles of construction of mathematical models. We
will be supplementing this with additional material according to students'
backgrounds and interests. See my course
philosophy.
-
Prerequisites: MATH 350 with a grade of "C" or better. However, this
semester, this requirement is flexible.

Computer Lab Hours: MDD 212 will be open for students to do assignments,
etc. on Wednesdays and Fridays from 3:00PM to 5:00PM. In particular,
we have Mathematica, version 4 in that lab., and we also have some Matlab
toolboxes that we do not have with the university site license (although
the MDD 212 lab. has a slightly older version of Matlab).
