Add Printers
You can add a printer by the following procedure:
<Start> => <Settings> => <Control Panel> =><Printers> => <Add Printer> => <Next> => Chose <Network printer> and then press <Next> => <Mathnet> => <Mathserv>. Then select
- The printer in MDD438: MDD438PS => Next => Finish.
- The printer in MDD401: MDD401PS => Next => Finish.
- The Printer in Stephens Hall: StephensPCL => Finish.
You may add the printers in MDD401 and MDD338 by using the HP universal driver. If you would like to do so, please ask R. Baker Kearfott for their IP addresses.

Cygwin

If you like Linux/Unix, please try CYGWIN, a Linux/Unix-like environment for Microsoft Windows, which is installed in Euler, Laplace, and Leibniz. Cygwin consists of a Unix system call emulation library, cygwin1.dll, together with a vast set of GNU and other free software applications organized into a large number of optional packages. Among these packages are high-quality compilers (f77/g77, gcc, g++) and other software development tools, a complete X11 development toolkit, gnuplot, TeX and LaTeX, OpenSSH (client and server), and much more.
- Start cygwin by double-clicking the cycwin icon on the Desktop. Type "pwd" to show your home folder.
- Download cygwin.zip for cygwin settings. Save it to your home folder.
- On the cygwin window, run "unzip cygwin.zip".
- Run "xinit &" or "startx &" to start X windows. The colors and fonts for X-windows can be changed by modifying ".xinitrc".

Set Fonts for a MS Windows Machine with CYGWIN to Use Mathematica Remotely
- Log on to your computer as administrator and then start CYGWIN
- Create a folder: mkdir /usr/local/mathematica
- Copy fonts from WILKINSON:
  cd /usr/local/mathematica
  scp -r usrid@wilkinson.ull.edu:/usr/local/Wolfram/Mathematica5.1/SystemFiles/Fonts/BDF.
  scp -r usrid@wilkinson.ull.edu:/usr/local/Wolfram/Mathematica5.1/SystemFiles/Fonts/Type1 .
- Change file access permissions: chmod -R og+r /usr/local/mathematica
- Add the following lines in /etc/bash.bashrc:
  xset fp+ /usr/local/mathematica/Fonts/BDF
  xset fp+ /usr/local/mathematica/Fonts/Type1
  xset fp rehash
- Restart cygwin.
Now the users of your computer can log on to WILKINSON (ssh -X -l userid wilkinson.ull.edu) and run mathematica without any problems.

Set Fonts for a Linux machine to Use Mathematica Remotely
- Create the directory /usr/local/mathematica
- Copy the directory /usr/local/Wolfram/Mathematica5.1/SystemFiles/Fonts/
  from WILKINSON to the the directory /usr/local/mathematica in the local machine.
- Run "/usr/sbin/chkfontpath --add /usr/local/mathematica/Fonts/BDF"
- Run "/usr/sbin/chkfontpath --add /usr/local/mathematica/Fonts/Type1"
